Technique for percussive-like sounds, sum of
exponentially damped sinusoids: modes of musical instruments.
Principle: do two Fourier Transforms, one at the beginning of the sound, the other further in the sound.
Peaks in one transform are matched to peaks in the other, couples with close frequencies considered as a resonance.
Amplitude and decay rate of resonance easily deduced from amplitude of the peak in each transform.
Process done iteratively with various window sizes, positions
Result is a Resonance Model: set of resonances
FOFs, or impulse response of bank of second order filters.
ResAn: UNIX and Macintosh in Diphone Studio (crotale.aiff)
SDIF i/o has been added for storage of Resonance Models
