The first day of the conference will be concentrated
on the theme : Improvisation With The Computer.
This theme covers such topics as : modelling the improvisation
process, musician / machine interaction in an improvisation context,
learning process in virtual improvisers, cognitive aspects, etc.
It must not be confused with using the computer as just a digital
effect processor in a live performance, rather it must include
the idea of modelling a musical process and interacting with the
model.
This session will take the forms of a series of short workshops,
animated by researchers and musicians interested in performer/machine
interaction in an improvisation context. These workshops
will address ongoing musical projects and contain musical/technical
explanations, demonstrations and short performances.
Organised in collaboration with the Electronic Music Foundation.
