The WiSe Box is a Multi-performer Wireless Sensors Digitizer. It is a pocket-sized CV to OpenSoundControl (OSC) digitizer that converts up to 16 continuous controllers on 16 bits into OSC. Its Wireless Network Technology 802.11b (WiFi) makes it immediately compatible with computers and networks.

The WiSe Box project started in early 2004. For several years now, inexpensive OEM radio modules enable a quick implementation of a wireless link for transmitting sensors [Emilie Simon Wireless Forearm Controller].
However, those modules are generally proposed with one or two channels only. Moreover, each needs needs an associated dedicated receiver.
Some exceptions exist : Linx Technologies proposes some RF modules with 8 channels and the TinyOS sensors network

The WiSe Box is a research project that aims to solve the following aspects :
- Multiple digitizers active on stage simulaneously
- Easy sharing of the radio media
- No dedicated receiver
- High resolution and high data rate
We oriented the design toward 802.11 (WiFi) technology since it solves intrinsically the sharing of the radio media by collision avoidance. Read the submitted article for NIME 2005 here
