PECA PECA
What is PECA?
français
Specialist club Auditive Perception and Cognition (PECA) of the CogniSeine network.

Organisors: Carolyn Drake, Stephen McAdams (in collaboration with Emmanuel Bigand for the rest of France)

The main goal of the club is to group students and researchers working in France in the field of auditive perception and cognition applied, more or less closely, to music. We wish to 1) bring together researchers in the field of auditive perception and cognition, 2) enrich and exchange our experiences in this rich and diverse field, and 3) facilitate the exchange of useful information (conferences, books, articles, software, etc ...).

PECA was created in December 1996 as part of the CogniSeine network of the GIS "Sciences de la Cognition". In December 1997 we became a "specialist club". Since its creation we obtained a fund from the network that has allowed us to

1) invite nine international researchers to give a presentation in our monthly workshops (Emmanuel Bigand, Neil Todd, Peter Desain et Henkjan Honig, Caroline Palmer, W. J. Dowling, Edward Large, Daniel Levitin, Mireille Besson, François Pachet), 2) organize and finance a yearly academy, the Journées d'Etude Françaises de la Psychologie de la Musique , and 3) set up an electronic communication network for the research community of audition in France.
