Diffuse sound field |
Uniform sound field, for which there is energy at all frequencies, in all directions; infinite linear combination of plane waves. |
HRIR (Head Related Impulse Response) |
Diffraction by torso, head and external ear cause modification of propagation and perception of a sound, from source to eardrum. These modifications can be seen like a linear and time invariant filter, characterized by its impulse response. There is one impulse for each direction of the source. |
HRTF (Head Related Transfer Function) |
Frequency domain version of HRIR. Transfer function between sound pressure at the entrance of the blocked ear canal and sound pressure in the middle of the head when listener is absent. |
