Authoring Intelligent sound for Synchronous Human-Computer Interaction, by R. Bargar

Abstract:

This paper introduces concepts, defines implementation challenges and discusses strategies for generating synchronous sound in real-time for interactive computing environments. Synchronisation of sound and graphics is examined as a base for a computational definition of synchronisation. Automated observation of parallel processes is proposed for generation of synchronous events. An architecture is presented for achieving synchronous real-time synthesis of high-fidelity audio signals. An emerging automated subjectivity embodied in an intelligent audio subsystem is identified.
