The KANSEI system (Genova, 10/97):

• Planes represent instruments (one plane per instrument);
• The two axis are pitch and dynamics (dynamics = spectral variation);
• Each file of the plane consists of additive analysis of acoustic instrument samples (SOL) and is formed of different segments -- in the clarinet case: attack, sustain, and release.
• No transitions were modeled at the time.
  

PROS:

• Good quality synthesis with reduced number of analysed files (9).

CONS:

• No transitions modeled;
• Specific "hard wired" system design -- not appropriate for general synthesis.
